Naim uppdaterar apparna n-Serve & n-Stream som finns till deras utbud av nätverks- och hårddiskspelare. De har tidigare funnits för iPod Touch och iPhone men finns nu även anpassad för iPad där det kommer mer till sin rätta. Den stora skillnaden och anledningen till att det är värt att nämna är det verkligen tagit ett stort steg i rätt riktning. Delvis blir ytan på en iPad betydligt bättre men Naim har nu adderat möjligheten att kunna navigera med skivomslag. Listor i all sin ära men omslag ger en helt annan känsla och precis det många av oss fortfarande gillar med fysiska media. Det har även skett förbättringar med sökfunktionen, stöd för metadata, spellistor mm.

Båda applikationerna är nu också gratis och finns till iPod Touch, iPhone och iPad.

Jag fick N-Serve demat för mig igår och jäklar vad grymt snygg lösning och jag gillar verkligen upplägget... helt klart något jag skulle vilja ha till min Naim SuperNait


kändes väldigt stabilt och grymt snabbt.

Jag var själv hos Ljudmakarn förra fredagen och testade Merdians app och då även N-serve ihop med Uniti Qute. Dom hade inte fått allt klart då men tyckte det var riktigt lovande. Nån typ av lösning för en större skärm känns som ett måste om det ska funka. Förr var jag nöjd med menyn på Squeezebox men efter man väl börjat med tex Spotify, testat Sooloos eller liknande lösning är det svårt att backa.

Tycker helt klart det är ett väldigt bra steg fram för Naim. Har lite svårt att hålla isär alla Naim produkter men hade gärna sett en ren spelar mer likt UnitiQute eller en enklare NDX.

Programvaran har uppgraderats till version 2.1

An update is now available from the App Store which gives Naim’s n-Serve control app full playlist functionality. The updated app, which is available on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, allows for an even greater degree of control over Naim’s server products the HDX, UnitiServe and their SSD variants.

Users can build a playlist from the play queue by editing and then saving the list of tracks as a playlist with the name of their choice. Users can also create playlists by adding tracks or entire albums to an existing playlist or create a new one from the “Add to…” button.

Introducing n-Stream 3.0
n-Stream 3.0, the new and improved version of Naim’s control app for the NaimUniti 2, NaimUniti, UnitiQute, SuperUniti, NDS, NDX and ND5 XS is available to download from the App Store now. This new and improved control app offers a significantly faster and smoother UPnP™ browsing experience as well as sorting UPnP™ lists alphabetically. n-Stream 3.0 also includes two key new features: playlist functionality and expanded music information delivered by Rovi.

Expanded Music Information
A new ‘Info’ button has now been added to the app which enables you to start on a journey of musical discovery. This new feature is best experienced on iPad where, once a track is playing, pressing the ‘Info’ button reveals a virtual booklet that contains all the information about the album and artist you would expect to find in a traditional CD booklet or LP sleeve such as cover art, performer, producer and credits. n-Stream then goes a step further to provide you with additional features including biographies, images, discography, album reviews and similar music suggestions. Links from the booklet open up to reveal content direct from Rovi’s vast database of music information. You can go as deep as you like. Either just touch the surface for the facts you need or get lost in a library of information about your music and expand your horizons with new suggestions from the app. This groundbreaking new feature is also available on iPhone and iPod Touch where it is available directly from the ‘Now Playing’ screen.

Playlist Functionality*
UPnP™ playlists can now be built, edited and saved directly from the n-Stream app. You can add either single tracks or whole albums to a playlist while listening and then save under a title of your choosing and edit directly from the app. Playlists can be stored on your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch and transferred to other iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch devices via iTunes. Your Naim streamer will continue to play the playlist even if your Apple device is switched off.

*Please note at present playlist functionality is only available from n-Stream 3.0 when used with NaimUniti 2 and NDS. However, a software update will be made available for Naim’s other network-connected streaming products (ND5 XS, NDX, UnitiQute, NaimUniti, SuperUniti) enabling playlists from n-Stream 3.0, in due course (currently expected in August).
